The worldly concern is wide and constitutes of a number of cultures and belief systems that vary from whiz another to a smaller or greater extent. Some actions considered normal in one culture may be viewed as offensive or unacceptable by the other one. For example, in Arab countries it is mandatory for all females to cover their head other they face punishment. Now, such custom may be viewed as offensive to women belonging to other cultures and countries. Different ethnic groups can be defined on the basis of caste, religion, language, customs and value system or geopolitical boundaries. So, an ethnocentric person would consider one particular culture close importan t and victor than others and would measure all other cultures using his preferred culture as benchmark. Stem Cell Research Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words - 1
Stem Cell Research - Essay ExampleMost criticized is research involving homosexual embryonic bowknot cells. Most opposition on stem cell research is mainly on good and religious issues. Most controversies on stem cell research exist, attributed to myths and misconceptions regarding stem cell research. Misconceptions are arising due to the biased nature of reporting from the media as well as error that top especially when reporters are not conversant with facts on stem cell research. This paper is in favor of stem cell research due to the reasons listed below. The meaning(a) role it go away play in cancer treatment, regenerative medicine, repair of destroyed organs, in cure of killer diseases such as leukemia, Alzheimers, diabetes treatment, correction of developmental problems in humans even prior to birth, production of clones that could be used for organ harvesting and carrying tabu drug tests. As agitated to what most critic of stem cell research believes, blastocysts are not human beings thus their destruction does not constitute to killing. Scientifically, an embryo is not human until it is at least deuce weeks old, at least until the nervous system becomes evident (Mummery and Guido 672-673). In addition, the potential medical benefit from stem cell research is of greater importance compared to moral concerns raised ab let out the embryo. With support and funds from the government, more talented scientist would be willing to get into stem cell research hence accelerate research. This will also enable the government to monitor embryonic research as compared to the privatized research (Mummery and Guido 672-673). In such cases, the government can ensure researchers carry out embryonic stem cell responsibly. Most race opposed to embryonic stem cell research claim that it is without the embryos consent. However, the same people are not opposed to organ transplant in children, which save requires parental consent. Embryonic stem cell research should therefore require only the consent of the donor of the embryo since it is not different from organ donation involving children. In addition, it offers the opportunity to extend life or improve life expert like in the case of the less opposed pediatric organ transplant (NIH Stem Cell Information 7 Jones, Byrne 75). Both the researcher and those oppose to stem cell research agree that stem cell research could be a manageable solution to many diseases. The conflict is on the seeded player and means of obtaining the stem cells. The argument that humans not be subjects for experimentation does not add up. Humans as well as human tissue act as specimens for experiments since time immemorial in both education and carrying out trial tests (Mummery and Guido 672). For example, all doctors have to dissect human cadaver as part of their medical training. In addition, the success in human organ transplant was only possible after several tests and experiments involving human subjects. Drug trials carried out all the time involve using human subjects. The issues discussed above have received little or no objection, yet they involve experimentation with human body just like in case of stem cell research (Mummery and Guido 672-678). From this, it is obvious that success in human medicine is not possible without taking the risk of involving human subject to carry out research. Considering abortion is legal

Lastly, lunacy patients tend to suffer from damage problem-solving skills meaning that they cannot also be able to reason properly because of lack of sound mind. Bartlett and OConnor (2007) on their part stated that most dementia patients are persons above the age of sixty-five i.e. the geriatric population but there have been reported cases of dementia occurring before the age of sixty-five.Because of the unique record of the dementia symptoms, the nursing requirements for catering for these patients tend to be unique because it is not focused towards ensuring the patients regain their full health back but rather it is focused on enabling the patients to cope with the condition, whilst feel only an insignificant pain or inconveniences caused by the condition. Therefore, it is particularly important to investigate the roles that nurses play in ensuring that dementia patients have a better quality of life despite their condition. The extent, nature, or standard of the nursing care given to dementia patients determines the quality of life the patients have until their death occurs. In thi s regard, Baldwin (2008) lamented on the fact that because of the rare incidences of dementia cases, there has been a little focus on the role of nurses in providing care to dementia patients.

In comparison to this, the condition of Puerto Rico is severely devastating with the figures of debt obligations that be unfunded in unhomogeneous obligations and pension funds of 3.5 million residents remaining unserviced. The debt obligation has grown to a whopping amount of 87 billion dollars and the government has reached a situation where they are going to run out of funds. The island of Puerto Rico has been expecting a bailout from the US administration in order to save their economy. However, real facts indicate otherwise with news of the US brokerage firms advising investors to stay out of investing in the bonds of Puerto Rico that they plan to use to finance their debt obligations. In order to attract the investors, Puerto Rico has issued bonds with a forecasted product of 9.29% which exceeded that of Greece. For this reason, Puerto Rico is being referred as Greece of America. In 2008, the measures taken by the government to stabilize the economy created a situation of debt trap for the territory of Puerto Rico. The governor at that point of time undertook measures like cutting down government jobs, reducing income taxes to half as well as reducing the corpo direct tax rate by about 9%. These measures were undertaken by looking at the limitations of government in funding the economic investments and their abilities to meet the level of expenditure with an eye on the treasury. The steps were also taken to maintain an optimum level of liquidity in the economy and contain inflation by restoring a balance betwixt the demand and supply in the economy. The level of government job cuts reduced the expenditure of the government in terms of payment of salaries. Although this provided relief to the policy ma kers in the short term, the government job cuts also led to decrease in production volumes. The decrease in production volumes meant that the supply of goods and service decreased. The slowdown of the gross domestic product led to the diminution in the earnings of revenues of the government. Although, the government of Puerto Rico tried to maintain stability by injecting liquidity in the economy through reduction of corporate and individual taxes, the slowdown of the income level and the earnings meant that the investments and the demands also deteriorated. The revenue earnings of the government suffered and the treasury volume got depleted over a power point of time. Due to this debt trap in Puerto Rico, the government ran out of funds and the economy headed towards a debt crisis. The debt crisis of Puerto Rico is slightly different from that of Greece due to the fact that a major(ip) part of its debt obligations are long term. Due to small short term debt obligations, the territ ory would get some more time to restore its financial spatial relation and recover from the debt obligations. The government has also taken austerity measures to control the situation of debt crisis. This includes an increase in the contribution of the state from 8.275% to 10% in the pension plans. By doing this, Puerto Rico had planned to get more funds in the pension schemes that could be used to service the debt liabilities and the long term maturities could be paid with the yield of economy in future. The measures taken by the

United States Declaration of Independence Essay Example for Free
United States Declaration of Independence EssayJohn Locke was born on August 29th, 1632 in Somerset, England. He first studied medicine at Oxford University, and then later became a highly influential British philosopher. His ideas and literary plant largely influenced people and governments during both his time, and ours. In his major works, Locke wrote down his ideas on topics such as political philosophy, education, and epistemology. In John Lockes works on the topic of political philosophy, he introduced his ideas on the subjects of natural rights and the social bundle. Lockes ideas on these subjects have been largely influential in the development of the foundation of advanced government. One of John Lockes most influential ideas was the thought that everyone had specific natural rights. In his opinion, there are certain natural rights that every person is authorize to have. According to Locke, these include the rights to life, liberty, and property. He developed these i deas in his most renowned piece of literary work called Second Treatise Concerning Civil government. In this document, Locke writes that people should take in up some natural freedoms in order to cooperate with the common law, and in return, the government should protect them. Anformer(a) main point Locke makes is that citizens in all given country have the right, and obligation, to replace their current government if the regime is abusing its powers. Locke writes Every man has a property in his own person. This nobody has a right to, but himself. The ideas purge forth in his Second Treatise Concerning Civil Government inspired the libertarian ideals of the American Revolution, and also set an exemplification for those who lived in Europe, Asia, and Latin America. Lockes writings were a huge inspiration to the founding fathers of America, and to the people in the original colonies who read Second Treatise Concerning Civil Government on the eve on the Revolution. His anti-authori tarian ideas inspired the creation of a different type of government that protected the rights and freedoms of its people. The Social Contract theory goes hand and hand with natural laws. The social agitate is an agreement between the people and their government, where the people agree to obey the state and pay for its services, and the government will make and enforce laws that protects its citizens. This idea of social contract was also talked about in Second Treatise Concerning Civil Government. Many writers who read Lockes ideas on natural laws and social contract became influenced by him and his ideas, most notably Thomas Jefferson in the American Declaration of Independence.Lockes Second Treatise Concerning Civil Government can be seen as somewhat of an outline for the Declaration of Independence. An example of this in the Declaration is when it states that every man has a right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. This almost directly references Lockes ideas in Sec ond Treatise Concerning Civil Government where he states every man has a right to defend their life, health, Liberty, or possessions. Also, the first sentence of the Declaration establishes a Natural Law based on a theory popularized by Locke. John Locke was and continues to be a huge contributor to modern governments. The ideas of natural rights and the social contract that were put into the Second Treatise Concerning Civil Government , as well as the other writings and ideas John Locke created were a huge inspiration to many people, politicians, and modern governments. Most notably, the United States of America, where Lockes ideas were put into the Declaration of Independence, and where he inspired the founding fathers to create a government where the people held the power, and every man had equal rights. Without John Locke and his writings, who knows where America and many other non-authoritarian governments would stand today.

Personal Experience Essay Example for Free
Personal Experience EssayLife is full of adventures and experiences. The key to living well is making these experiences as meaningful as possible. I went through a very significant experience, which was actually more of a risk, about cardinal years ago. I was 15 years old and I had to ascertain whether I would stay in my home township or move to Monterrey, Mexico. As in every dilemma faced, there are pros and cons that will try to sway you. date wouldnt stop and the day of my finale was getting closer and closer the less time I had to decide, the more confused and undecided I became. all(a) I could do was imagine myself living the future in my hometown or in Monterrey. But, why was I put into this situation? Should I have stayed where I was born and where Id lived my whole life or would the best thing be to move to an entirely new city? My family once consisted of my mom, my dad, two older brothers, and me. Unfortunately, my dad passed away in December of 2007 when I was tw elve years old. Monterrey is a city characterized by having many foreign students because of the highly ack at presentledge university, Tec de Monterrey (ITESM). Both of my brothers decided to study there. This left a lonely house with only a widowed mother and a teenage girl. That was the second gear I realized we needed to do something, having me make the decision of my life with the pressure of time. I was born and raised in Matamoros, Mexico, which is a border town with Brownsville, Texas. Having my student passport, I studied there my whole life. I had many friends living in both Matamoros and Brownsville. This was a major factor on my decision because I didnt want to leave them and, in Monterrey, I didnt know anyone. The thing was that in Matamoros, every corner of my house, every street, and every stir up of the city would only remind me of my dad who was already in Heaven. To me, this was a kind of torture. I had to either leave my friends and start a new life, or stay the re with everyones support, but constantly having to deal with the suffering of not being able to let go of my dad because of my surroundings. I knew pitiable to Monterrey was a very good idea, but like everything, it had its negative views as well. It would be a good thing to move because my mom and I would now live with my brothers and we would all be united like we were before. This new beginning would help us overcome the death of my dad. The bad part was that, as I was about to enter high teach, moving to Monterrey without knowing anyone would be very difficult. I had always studied in the USA, so attending a school in Mexico would probably lower my grades and make things more complicated. It was all about taking the risk. Decision time was near. After I analyzed everything, I soundless that the best thing I could was to move to Monterrey with my mom. This was a very significant experience because it really impacted me. The first semester was very hard as I felt all alone. As soon as I began making friends, however I realized I couldnt have made a better decision. People in Monterrey are very humble and caring. They taught me many things, enabling me to become a better person with better feelings. These friends were the ones who pulled me closer to immortal when I most needed Him. There was no better feeling than getting home and seeing my brothers living with me again. My family was once again united, and I am very grateful for all of this.View as multi-pages
